John Mackay Trio

Composer
J.S. Bach
Released
2012
Label
John Mackay Trio
Forces
Piano, Trio
Personnel
John Mackay piano with bass and drums

Most Bach-jazz albums seize on the fugues.

Mackay leaves them alone and gives his trio room to improvise around nine preludes from Book I of The Well-Tempered Clavier.

He also abandons Bach’s chromatic sequence, placing contrasting keys and tempos next to one another instead.
