Beethoven Blues is Batiste’s first solo-piano album and the opening instalment in a planned series of piano records.
It grew from a 2023 television interview in which he spontaneously transformed a Beethoven bagatelle, an approach he calls “spontaneous composition”.

Repeated references to Für Elise and the Fifth Symphony use the same source performances; the other Beethoven works appear once in album order.
