Rachmaninoff’s slow movement had already escaped into pop as the tune behind Eric Carmen’s “All by Myself”; Bob Belden’s arrangement returns for the entire concerto.
One first-movement theme emerges as a slow, late-night blues, while Latin rhythms surface elsewhere across the nine sections.
