Markin selects half of Tchaikovsky’s calendar and rearranges their chronology, so the set moves by musical contrast rather than month-by-month sequence.
The live recording preserves the suite as a concert arc, with the familiar “Barcarolle” placed early rather than treated as a closing showpiece.
