Arimoya Trio takes its name from Daniil Andreev’s mystical The Rose of the World, where Arimoya is imagined as a heavenly country of shared human culture. Pianist Alexander Mironov has used the name for a long-running project that moves freely between jazz and concert music.
On this Bach programme, the trio does not preserve the original proportions. Mironov, bassist Ekaterina Pshenitsyna and drummer Petr Ivshin stretch brief preludes and inventions into performances several times their original length.
