Tchaikovsky admired Delibes’ Sylvia so much that he judged his own Swan Lake poor beside it. Jazz musicians later reworked very different pieces by Delibes: Gil Evans turned Les filles de Cadix into the first classical work Miles Davis recorded, while Burton and Ozone paired two Lakmé numbers for vibraphone and piano.
