Skip Martin built this 1941 arrangement for what the Library of Congress calls another Paganini-like virtuoso: Benny Goodman. The violin’s notorious variations become a vehicle for Goodman’s clarinet and a full swing band, with tenor saxophone and piano joining the contest.
