Loose Cuts
Deodato 2
Deodato recorded Deodato 2 in 1973, just as his jazz-funk version of Also sprach Zarathustra was becoming an unlikely pop hit. The follow-up retains the same appetite for scale: Ravel’s Pavane pour une infante défunte settles into an electric groove, while Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue is rebuilt for electric piano, guitar, brass, strings and a driving rhythm section.
