Bach acts as the frame for Iiro Rantala’s very personal history of jazz. The Aria from the Goldberg Variations opens and closes the record, and five improvisations on Variation 1 keep returning between standards, tributes and original pieces. Rantala plays those Bach tracks alone, in duo with Lars Danielsson, and in trio with Danielsson and Morten Lund.
