Before Nat King Cole’s voice eclipsed his reputation as a pianist, this compact Rachmaninoff transformation put his keyboard virtuosity at the centre of the trio. Its original home was an eight-song album of 78s that became the first No. 1 on Billboard’s newly introduced album chart in 1945.
