Mozart Transfigurado began as a commission from Lisbon’s Festival Around Classic. Mário Laginha and Daniel Bernardes wrote five pieces apiece for two pianos, double bass and drums, then premiered the set at the Capitólio on the album’s release day.
The ten tracks are new compositions after Mozart. Some stay close to their starting point; others let it recede as the quartet improvises.
