Waldron, Reggie Workman and Ed Blackwell recorded the album in Tokyo in a single day, 8 December 1983.
Satie’s tiny piano pieces become spacious trio performances lasting roughly four and a half to nine and a half minutes, giving Workman and Blackwell room to reshape music that can be over almost as soon as it begins.
