- 2022
- Label
- Dinaï Records
- Forces
- Piano, Trio
- Personnel
- Dimitri Naïditch piano, Gilles Naturel double bass, Arthur Alard drums
Despite its title, Soliszt is not entirely a solo-piano record. Naïditch frames eight jazz-trio transformations with two Liszt originals played straight: Vallée d’Obermann opens the album and the Petrarch sonnet closes it.
It is the third instalment in Naïditch’s New Time Classics series, following his Bach and Mozart projects. Gilles Naturel and Arthur Alard return on double bass and drums.
Hear both
The classical side contains only the source pieces used on the album, in album order. The jazz side presents the complete album whenever a dependable copy can be embedded.
The classical player accompanies tracks 2 to 9, the eight jazz-trio responses; tracks 1 and 10 are omitted because Naïditch plays Liszt’s Vallée d’Obermann and Petrarch Sonnet No. 123 straight.
