Classical training and jazz were never separate compartments for Eugen Cicero, who had played a Mozart concerto with an orchestra at six. He brought swing harmony and spontaneous improvisation to Bach, Chopin, Liszt and Tchaikovsky, with his formidable classical technique still plainly audible. Rokoko Jazz sold more than a million copies and did much to popularise the style that became known as Classic-Jazz.
