Gregor Huebner trained in classical violin, jazz piano and composition, then made improvisation the link between them. With the Sirius Quartet and in his teaching, he has worked to bring improvisation back into classical string training, even writing a book on the subject. His recordings with Beirach and Mraz put the same idea into practice: Bartók, Mompou and Monteverdi remain recognisable while the trio finds room inside their music.
