The trio grew from Beirach’s fascination with Eastern European modernism and his habit of using Bartók’s chromatic language as material for improvisation. With no drummer, Gregor Hübner’s violin, George Mraz’s double bass and Beirach’s piano share the melodic argument across Scriabin, Bartók and Porumbescu.
