Jens Schöwing explains the name Blue Note Bach with a musician’s joke: a blue note is the note that sits slightly wrong, while the bassist keeps the band on course when everyone else gets lost in their imagination. Since 2006, he has treated Bach as material for improvisation, recasting it as swing, Latin, reggae and funk and showing school pupils how the transformations work.

The records

Composers reworked: J.S. Bach (5), Petzold (1), C.P.E. Bach (1), Scarlatti (1), Chopin (1), Mozart (1), Beethoven (1), Debussy (1).
