Chopin’s E-minor Prelude left a conspicuous trace in Antônio Carlos Jobim’s “Insensatez”; Mulligan mischievously completes the circle by taking Chopin’s piece itself into bossa nova. His baritone saxophone keeps the original melody sombre and unhurried while the rhythm quietly relocates it from a Romantic drawing room to the early 1960s.
