Hiromi recorded Place To Be just before her thirtieth birthday as both her first solo-piano album and a musical travel journal. Most of its pieces grew from places and people encountered on tour; her version of Pachelbel’s Canon is the sole borrowed classical work, folded into those memories rather than presented as a separate crossover exercise.
