By 1971, Grant Green was placing his unmistakable guitar sound inside contemporary soul and R&B rather than the organ-combo settings of his earlier Blue Note records. Mozart’s Symphony No. 40 consequently shares Visions with songs made famous by the Jackson 5, the Carpenters and Chicago, treated as another strong melody ready for Green’s lean, rhythmic attack.
