The title sounds like a knowing wink at Charlie Parker’s “Ornithology”, itself a bebop transformation of “How High the Moon”.
Gazarov’s trio follows that playful lead by placing the Italian Concerto, Air and Gounod’s Ave Maria beside an Oscar Peterson standard, treating Bach as part of a living jazz vocabulary.
