David Rees-Williams

The David Rees-Williams Trio grew out of a Canterbury wine bar that Rees-Williams helped open after moving there in 1985. Its grand piano attracted visiting musicians, and it was there that he met bassist Neil Francis and drummer Phil Laslett; the three formed the trio in 1988. Their long partnership brings together jazz improvisation and the choral and organ music Rees-Williams first encountered as a chorister at New College, Oxford.
