Artist
Matt Herskowitz
Matt Herskowitz trained at Curtis and Juilliard, but his interest in jazz took root in Philadelphia bars and clubs while he was still a classical student. His best-known Bach arrangement began between takes for The Triplets of Belleville: he turned the C minor Prelude into a jazz waltz for fun, and the producer immediately asked him to record it. That accident captures the spontaneity of a repertoire that ranges from Bach and Schumann to Satie, Ravel and Gottschalk, in solo, trio and chamber settings.
