Opinion on the album split sharply, but Evans himself was proud of it; Tony Bennett called it one of his all-time favourites.
It also brought “Time Remembered” and “My Bells” to the public for the first time, after Evans had refused to release earlier quintet recordings made with Zoot Sims and Jim Hall.
