Jazzed Up Classics was made for the Soho Production Music library, where an arrangement needs to establish its character quickly and work away from the setting of a conventional album. Derek Nash and Dominic Ashworth give eleven familiar melodies sharply differentiated treatments, drawing on swing, hot-club jazz, rock and roll and quieter café jazz.

Nash is a saxophonist, arranger and recording engineer, while Ashworth began with classical guitar before establishing himself on the British jazz scene. Their studio experience shows in compact arrangements that reach the tune promptly without sacrificing the lift and flexibility of live jazz playing.
