Asuka Matsumoto has described her first album as a picture of where she was musically at the time: solo piano opens out into arrangements, added rhythms, strings and overdubbing. She wanted listeners to be able to enter the music from more than one direction.

That approach gives new shapes to familiar pieces, from Bach’s first invention to Für Elise and Pictures at an Exhibition, without asking every track to do the same thing. The album draws on both her classical training and her years studying jazz and pop.
